Quite simply, I have a ‘real world’ background that enables me to understand and empathise with the ‘real world’ situations and issues of my clients.
Why do I think it’s a ‘real-world’ background? I left school at 18 and then spent 8 years with the Royal Navy, where I travelled all over the world and experienced many different issues and situations. From there, I went to University to study Management and Business as a mature student and then went on to work in Finance and Management in both the public, private and education sectors. Finally, I got tired of chasing meaningless targets and decided it was time to move on. I’ve always wanted to be able to make a real difference to people’s lives.
Who is Dawn?
Before you take the final step of committing yourself to the care of Dragonfly Hypnotherapy, I think it’s important for you to learn something about me, my background, my philosophy and how I came to be here. My name is Dawn Flynn and I’m the first to admit that I have taken a long and unusual journey to get here. Unlike many other practitioners in this field, I have neither a purely medical/clinical nor a ‘new age’ background.
I’ve been told by friends for years that I’d make a good counsellor and teacher and I’ve always been interested in psychology and the workings of the mind. After careful research, I decided on Hypnotherapy and EFT because real results can be obtained for people so quickly. Besides my professional experiences, I’ve also been made redundant twice, dealt with both an alcohol and a self-esteem problem, been divorced and re-married, had a father go through kidney failure and a transplant operation and dealt with the after-effects of the death of close relatives.
I have always found it easy to communicate and empathise with people and friends have always described me as a natural “agony aunt” in whom people have been able to confide their problems.
Above all, I work hard to build a confidential but comfortable working relationship with my clients based on mutual trust and empathy. I always try to see my clients, not simply as clinical cases, but as real people that need my professional help to find workable solutions to the issues and problems that affect their daily lives.
